An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Medical Examiner Service at Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking to recruit/appoint 1 Medical Examiner, whom are willing to undertake a minimum of 1 PA of Consultants time (4 hr session morning or afternoon). There is also a requirement for weekend working on a rota basis. The Medical Examiner post is based at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, this is not a remote position.
Applications are invited and welcomed from colleagues both in Primary & Secondary care settings whom have a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience and are GMC Registered. Successful candidates must have completed the online ME Training available on the E-lfh website before commencement in post. There is also a requirement for face to face (remote) training within 6 months of appointment. 1. Reviewing all non-coronial deaths within both Primary & Secondary Care.
2. Supporting and advising colleagues when discussing proposed causes of death
3. Working closely with Governance, PALS, Morbidity & Mortality
4. Liaising with H M Coroner & Bereaved relatives, where required.
5. Identifying & Escalating themes and trends.
6. Improving death certification
