The Governing Body of Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron is inviting applications for the role of School Attendance and Wellbeing Officer. This vital role involves ensuring accurate daily attendance records, following up on absences, issuing formal notices, and supporting pupils and families to improve attendance. The successful candidate will manage attendance data, liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies, and play a key role in safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing. Welsh language skills are important for daily communication with pupils, families, and staff.

We are looking for a dedicated, organised, and compassionate individual to join our team on a permanent, term-time basis. Working under the direction of the Business Manager and the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will help improve standards of learning by supporting high levels of attendance and punctuality, while also acting as a key point of contact for wellbeing concerns.

You will produce regular reports for school leaders, track attendance trends, particularly among vulnerable pupils, and coordinate interventions where needed. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with families are essential. Experience with MIS systems such as Bromcom is desirable.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Michelle Davies on 01545 570217.

Note: We reserve the right to extend the application closing date.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting children and adults at risk. As part of this commitment, certain roles within our organisation require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess the suitability of candidates. This role will require an Enhanced DBS check. Please note that the presence of previous convictions will not necessarily disqualify a candidate from consideration for this position. We assess each applicant on a case-by-case basis, and take into account the nature and relevance of any convictions in relation to the responsibilities of the role. Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive work environment where all individuals are treated fairly and with respect.
