We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to join our Paediatric Oncology service for a 12-month fixed term contract for Maternity Leave cover.
We are seeking an experienced children’s nurse, with substantial experience of cancer in children and young people, practicing at band 6 level or above. The team that you will work with you is talented, motivated, and subject to current review in line with POSCU guidance revisions. We are looking for a candidate who will be visible and both patient and staff focused to work within this excellent team.
This is the perfect opportunity for a nurse who wishes to pursue a CNS role in Paediatric Oncology. For internal applications, this post could be considered as a secondment with your direct line managers support.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist for Paediatric Oncology will provide specialist nursing care and support in the management of children and young people being investigated, diagnosed and treated for Cancer. This will involve dealing with complex and sensitive situations, providing specialist nursing and individualized care to children and their families in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will have sound knowledge and experience of Cancer in Children and Young people, they will demonstrate high level skills in clinical practice as well as developing and maintaining policies and standards of nursing care and staff development from an Oncology perspective.
The post holder will offer education and training to members of the multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will lead on care for children and young people with Cancer, this will involve at times breaking bad news and taking the appropriate action in emergency or unforeseen situations. They will provide support and education to children and their parents/carers.
We are a Level 1 Paediatric Shared care Oncology unit providing day care, bolus chemotherapy and febrile neutropenia care to Oncology patients at North Middlesex University Hospital. In the near future we are hoping to become an enhanced POSCU, and duties will include giving infusional day case chemotherapy.

We also provide community services and have a dedicated 0-19 service for children and young people in Enfield so that they can get the best possible start in life. This includes health visitors and school nurses who are delivering the national Healthy Child Programme, which provides a structured framework for the delivery of key interventions to support the health and wellbeing of children and families from 0 to 5 and school aged children from 5-19. The 0-19 service aims to improve pathways and partnerships with services in the hospital and deliver excellent care for the children and families.
