You will offercomprehensive psychological assessment and evidence-based treatment to young people aged 18-25 who are experiencing mental health difficulties that are too complex to be managed by primary care, but not so complex that they require involvement from the secondary care mental health teams.

Based in Harlow the service covers a broad geographical area with sites in Loughton, Harlow and Stansted.

The successful applicant will be expected to work autonomously to offer assessment and treatment to young people, both 1:1 and via a psychoeducation group programme. They will offer CBT for a range of mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, OCD, but will also offer longer-term specialist CBT for young people who are developing traits of personality disorder.

We work collaboratively with primary care colleagues, employment, education and other system partners, supporting early treatment using the CAPA model of care (Choice and Partnership Approach). You will have strong networking and relationship building skills, alongside skills in creatively and actively working with this client group and the wider network around them. You will have a strong understanding of the impact of Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences, and be interested in promoting social inclusion and the empowerment of service users within their mental health recovery.

This post will be based in the Harlow area but working in other areas will be required as part of the role. The post holder will also provide consultation and training for staff, and clinical supervision for trainees, assistants and volunteers as required.

What is Staff Bank?

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

If you are joining our Trust in a fixed term role, please indicate on your New Starter Paperwork that you wish to join our staff bank.

The 18-25s Psychology Service was developed to address a gap in service provision and offers a specialist psychology service to young adults. The service has been highly valued by our young adult service users who have provided very positive feedback on the high level of impact the support they received has had on their lives. The post holder will work alongside three qualified psychologists, a social worker, a family therapist, and an assistant psychologist and will liaise closely with the wider network of primary care and MDT colleagues.
