Summary
Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a farm, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and sustainability. This role blends practical agricultural knowledge with leadership, planning, and business skills.
Farm Manager – Key Job Duties:
Crop or Livestock Management
• Plan and monitor planting, irrigation, fertilization, harvesting, or breeding schedules
• Ensure crop/livestock health through disease and pest control measures
• Evaluate yields and productivity levels
Staff Supervision:
• Hire, train, and supervise farm workers or seasonal labor
• Assign tasks and manage work schedules
• Ensure compliance with safety standards
Business & Financial Oversight:
• Prepare and manage farm budgets and expenses
• Maintain records (production, sales, inventory, equipment maintenance)
• Negotiate with suppliers and buyers for inputs and produce
Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
• Oversee maintenance and use of tractors, irrigation systems, and other machinery
• Ensure infrastructure (barns, fences, greenhouses, etc.) is in good condition
Environmental and Compliance Management:
• Monitor weather, soil, and environmental conditions
• Ensure compliance with agricultural laws, regulations, and environmental policies
