Aquaculture worker is responsible for raising fish and other aquatic animals in controlled environments like ponds, tanks, or cages.

Key duties include:

Daily Responsibilities:

1. Feeding Fish
• Measure and distribute feed according to species and age
• Monitor fish feeding behavior and adjust quantities
2. Water Quality Monitoring
• Test and control temperature, oxygen levels, pH, and salinity
• Clean tanks, filters, and aeration systems
3. Fish Health and Growth
• Monitor fish for signs of disease, injury, or abnormal behavior
• Administer medications or treatments if needed
4. Harvesting and Grading
• Catch, sort, and weigh fish by size or species
• Use nets, crates, or pumping systems to transfer fish
5. Stocking and Breeding
• Transfer fingerlings to grow-out tanks or ponds
• Assist with artificial breeding or egg collection
6. Maintenance Work
• Maintain tanks, ponds, nets, and equipment
• Assist in construction or repair of cages, enclosures, or feeding systems
7. Record-Keeping
• Log feeding times, growth rates, mortality, and water parameters



Skills Required for a Fish Farming Worker:

1. Basic Aquaculture Knowledge
• Understanding of fish species, growth cycles, and aquatic systems
• Familiarity with common diseases and treatments
2. Physical Stamina
• Ability to lift, carry, and work in wet or outdoor environments
3. Attention to Detail
• Careful monitoring of fish behavior and water quality
4. Technical Skills
• Operating water pumps, filters, feeders, and testing tools
5. Problem-Solving
• Responding to changes in water quality or fish health
6. Teamwork and Communication
• Coordinating with supervisors and other workers
7. Safety Awareness
• Proper use of chemicals, tools, and handling of live fish



Qualifications (Optional but Preferred):

• Experience in aquaculture or agriculture
• Training in fish health, water testing, or hatchery techniques
• Certifications in aquaculture or aquatic animal care
