We are currently seeking an outstanding Teacher of English to join a vibrant and dedicated team in Wakefield from September 2025. Essential Requirements

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Strong knowledge of the English national curriculum (KS3 & KS4).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach to a range of abilities, tailoring support and challenge accordingly.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development.
  • Mark, assess, and track student progress against national standards.
  • Set high expectations for student behaviour, effort, and achievement.
  • Inspire a love of reading and critical thinking.
  • Provide timely, high-quality feedback to students.
  • Attend and contribute to department and whole-school meetings.
  • Participate in extra-curricular English activities, clubs, or trips.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular literacy.
