We are looking for and ENT ST1-2 to support ward-rounds, the on-call rota, routine and emergency operating lists and carry out administration related activities.

Duties:

• To be competent in history taking and examination.

• To be able to manage the acutely ill patient under supervision and guidance.

• To develop communication skills with colleagues, staff and patients as well as documentation.

• To be able to work as a member of a team and with other teams in a multi-disciplinary setting.

• To be able to show professionalism during the delivery of the role that will support and enable good clinical care.

• To develop competency in decision-making and prioritising one’s workload as well as demonstrating effective time management.

The successful candidate will be responsible to and work under the supervision of the ENT Consultants and Middle Grade Doctors.

They will be expected to participate in most of the day-to-day activities of the department in cooperation with the rest of the surgical staffing. It will be expected that he/she will conduct daily ward rounds, care for in-patients, participate in the on-call rota, attend A&E and ENT emergency clinics, attend routine and emergency surgical operating lists and carry out administration related to these activities. He/she will take part in the on-call rota at Senior House Officer Level (1:6 ENT only for weekday/weekend day shifts, ~ 1:10 ENT/General Surgery cross-cover for night shifts). The successful candidate is expected to participate in all the other on-going activities of the department including audit, research projects and to attend various departmental meetings and teaching sessions (MDTs, Audit meetings, M&M, ward and formal teaching).

Within the hours contracted, the successful candidate is expected to be flexible in the exact hours worked each day.

It is also expected that the LAS will ensure that the discharge letters are completed in a timely fashion and accurate.
