Contract Length: 6 MONTHS

37 Hours per week

Location: Hybrid – Birmingham with monthly travel to various sites across the UK (expensed)

IR35: In Scope

Our client, a prestigious organisation at the forefront of delivering high-value Capital Projects, is seeking an accomplished and technically adept MEP Manager to join their expert team. This is a pivotal role offering the opportunity to influence and assure complex building services across landmark public-sector infrastructure projects, typically valued at £100m+.

Role Overview

As the MEP Manager, you will provide authoritative technical assurance and project support across RIBA Stages 1–6, extending into the defects period. You will ensure compliance with GPA standards and industry-leading sustainability frameworks including BREEAM and NABERS, while advising key stakeholders and maintaining the highest levels of design and execution quality.



Key Responsibilities

Lead MEP input from concept design through to post-occupancy.

Review and challenge design outputs, particularly in relation to:

Standby power & UPS systems

Life safety systems

Lightning protection

Lighting & HVAC strategies

Advise GPA Project Managers on:

Derogations

Compensation events

MEP-related risk and mitigation

Carry out detailed site inspections during construction and defect rectification.

Ensure all building services are aligned with GPA performance and sustainability benchmarks.

Work collaboratively with the Innovation & Assurance (I&A) Technical Assurance team to deliver on CDM, Fire Safety, MEP, and BIM requirements.



Essential Requirements

Chartered Engineer (CEng) with membership of CIBSE or IET.

Proven experience managing high-value construction projects (£100m+).

Professional background from one of the following:

Top-tier multidisciplinary engineering consultancies (e.g., Hoare Lea, Tetratech, WSP, AECOM, Jacobs, Arup, Ramboll), or

Major contractors in an MEP Design Management capacity (e.g., BAM, Wates, SES, Morgan Sindall, Tilbury Douglas, Renaker, NG Bailey).



Strong technical grounding in:

Post-tensioned concrete and half-joint structural systems

Building services QA/QC processes

Stakeholder engagement at a senior level

Sustainability and compliance management

Ability and willingness to carry out on-site inspections on live construction sites.



Desirable Attributes

Experience working with or within government or public sector organisations.
