About the role

Are you a detail-driven Site Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? At Balfour Beatty, one of the UK’s leading infrastructure groups, you’ll be part of a team that delivers complex, high-profile projects that shape the future.

In this pivotal role, you’ll support the successful implementation of engineering strategies across our project sites—helping to deliver safe, sustainable, and innovative infrastructure that makes a real impact.

What you'll be doing

As a Site Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of engineering activities across the project lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting senior project leaders in implementing engineering strategies and frameworks for designated sites.
  • Coordinating site resources—materials, plant, and labour—to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Ensuring that design information, procedures, and quality standards are clearly communicated and implemented.
  • Providing technical support, verifying work, and contributing to quality assurance across all project phases.
  • Conducting audits and driving continuous improvement, identifying best practices and areas for development.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, and suppliers, ensuring seamless collaboration from design through to delivery.
  • Ensuring engineering outputs are fit for purpose, considering statutory regulations, CDM requirements, and customer needs.
  • Supporting procurement and material control processes, assisting with planning, cost reporting, and scheduling.
  • Championing the use of digital engineering tools and platforms to enhance project execution and data accuracy.
  • Providing concise, regular project performance updates to senior management.
  • Promoting a culture of Zero Harm, safety excellence, and environmental responsibility in all site operations.
  • Actively supporting Balfour Beatty’s values and sustainability commitments.

Who we're looking for

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a strong technical foundation, a proactive mindset, and a collaborative spirit. We’re looking for someone with:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, construction, or a related technical discipline.
  • Previous experience on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • A deep understanding of engineering principles, CDM regulations, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to anticipate and resolve site challenges.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools, including engineering and planning software.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, with a passion for delivering high standards.
