Summary

We are seeking a Packaging Development Manager to lead new packaging projects and drive efficiency improvements. Reporting to the New Products Development Manager, you will coordinate testing and validation, generate trial documentation, and provide technical support across departments, suppliers, and customers.

Key duties include managing artwork approvals with the artwork and packaging coordinator, maintaining accurate packaging data in product databases, and collaborating with procurement to ensure smooth phase-in of new packaging with minimal waste.

The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyse and resolve quality issues—crucial for maintaining our standards and continuous process improvement.

Your role responsibilities will include:

o Manage and track packaging projects, collaborating with Brand and Development teams to meet technical, cost, and brand goals.
o Oversee packaging in NPD, ensuring concepts align with factory capabilities.
o Develop new packaging, coordinating production capacity and equipment.
o Work with teams to select materials and suppliers.
o Lead and evaluate trials, managing timelines, costs, and follow-ups.
o Plan trials with supply chain and engineering, considering lead times.
o Document processes, set up packaging codes, and maintain accurate data.
o Lead performance validation and compliance with regulations.
o Troubleshoot issues, liaise with suppliers, and drive continuous improvement.
o Explore innovative formats and technologies.
o Maintain palletisation standards.

To be considered for this role we require the following skills, qualifications, and experience:

o Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Packaging Development or an equivalent discipline.
o Demonstrated experience in managing Packaging Projects or related functions, ideally within a regulated industry environment.
o Comprehensive knowledge of packaging systems, including familiarity with ISO 9001 or comparable quality standards.
o A proactive, detail-oriented approach with substantial experience in conducting audits and inspections, along with implementing effective corrective actions.
o Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
o Certification in Packaging Management.
o Strong proficiency in statistical analysis and quality improvement methodologies.
