Contract type: Permanent
Work pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week(Part time, annualised hours, compressed hours or term time working considered - discussions at interview stage welcome)
Post number: 200847
The role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking team at the heart of flood risk asset management in South Wales. You'll help develop and deliver long-term plans that identify where new flood defence assets are needed and ensure existing critical infrastructure - from coastal and tidal defences to embankments, sluices, and pumping stations - is properly managed and maintained for the future.
We're looking for technically skilled individuals who can collect and analyse asset and flood risk data to produce briefing notes, business cases, reports, and contracts - all of which will help shape projects that reduce the risk of flooding and protect communities across the region.
Ideally, you'll bring experience from a range of roles or organisations, with a strong understanding of both the technical demands of flood risk management and the wider organisational context in which we operate.
This is primarily an office-based role, but you'll also work out in the field and travel between NRW offices and partner sites, so flexibility and a practical mindset are key.
As a Category 1 responder under the Civil Contingencies Act (2004), all NRW staff may be called on to support emergency response activities, in line with their skills and experience.
This role is perfect for someone with a technical background and a passion for using their expertise to help protect the environment and improve lives across South Wales.
As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.
To make an informal enquiry about this role, please contact Gareth Richards at gareth.richards@cyfoethnaturiolcymru.gov.uk.
Interviews will take place in our Crosshands office or on Microsoft Teams.
Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.
