Sunderland City Council is launching a new Community Safety Team as part of our bold vision for safer, stronger, and more resilient neighbourhoods. Weandrsquo;re looking for motivated, community-focused individuals to join us as Community Safety Specialists within our locality-based, multi-agency team.andnbsp;



This role is central to tackling complex antisocial behaviour and environmental crime. You will lead on detailed investigations, applying a wide range of enforcement tools and powers to address persistent locality concerns, support victims, and enhance community wellbeing.andnbsp;



About the Role:

Working at the heart of our neighbourhoods, you willandnbsp;

- Undertake complex investigations into antisocial behaviour and environmental crimeandnbsp;

- Apply a range of legal tools and enforcement powers to address persistent locality issuesandnbsp;

- Lead and support high-profile joint operations with key partner agenciesandnbsp;

- Engage with residents, businesses, and local groups to build trust and gather intelligenceandnbsp;

- Respond to incidents and provide tailored support to individuals and communitiesandnbsp;

- Conduct inspections and enforcement activities in accordance with legal and procedural requirementsandnbsp;

- Gather, record, and present evidence to support legal proceedings and case managementandnbsp;

- Collaborate closely with police, housing providers, and other agencies in a multi-disciplinary settingandnbsp;



What we are looking for:

- Committed individuals with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to work confidently in challenging situations. Ideally, you will have:andnbsp;

- Experience working in community safety, antisocial behaviour, environmental enforcement, or a related public protection fieldandnbsp;

- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and Environmental Protection Act 1990andnbsp;

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence behaviours and build trustandnbsp;

- Confidence in using enforcement powers appropriately and proportionatelyandnbsp;

- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider multi-agency teamandnbsp;

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy, varied workloadandnbsp;

- A commitment to public service, fairness, and delivering positive community outcomesandnbsp;
