TITLE: Receptionist / Care Navigator LOCATION: Ash Tree House, Church Street,Kirkham,PR4 2SE RESPONSIBLE TO: Reception Manager ACCOUNTABLE TO: Practice Manager General Duties As a Receptionist / Care Navigator you will be required to: ensure that all queries from patients are handled efficiently and courteously keep surgery premises tidy and safe at all times maintain patient confidentiality at all times Principle Duties 1. Meet and greet patients, providing a friendly and helpful welcome. 2. Navigate patients to the right clinician and service. 3. Make new and follow-up appointments for patients via the telephone or in person at the Reception Desk. 4. Receive telephone calls and deal with enquiries/messages and/or direct them to the appropriate person. 5. Receive and record all requests for home visits, repeat prescriptions, including on-line requests etc. 6. Manage repeat prescriptions and ensure that these are signed and checked by the doctor before handing to patients. 7. Provide administrative support to clinical staff and other members of the team, such as scanning and data input. 8. Opening and closing the premises including checking heating and ventilation at the start and end of the surgery day. 9. Provide support and guidance to new staff during their induction. 10. Attend and participate in Practice and Reception Team meetings, as required. Overall Responsibility Undertake any other appropriate duties or responsibilities as directed by the Managment team or Partners To ensure effective communication with all Clinicians and other Practice and Community staff based at the Practice Be aware of and adhere to Practice policies in relation to Health and Safety at Work and Fire Precautions To attend appropriate training courses Where necessary relevant training in the operation of new or unfamiliar equipment, software or procedures will be provided or arranged. Data Protection Act, 1998 Carry out any requirements within the duties applicable to the Data Protection Act. Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 Observe all responsibilities and carry out all duties, whether general to all employees or specific to the post, relating to Health and Safety in accordance with the Practice Safety policies and any statutory requirements. Quality Assurance Every employee is personally responsible for the quality of the work, which they individually perform. Outside Employment/Outside Interests If you have other work or outside interest, this must not conflict with your duties and responsibilities or your attendance for work as an employee of the Practice. It is a condition of employment that you must inform the Practice Manager before taking up post of any private practice, work for outside agencies or other employers, voluntary work, or outside interest you have or propose to have. This is to ensure there is no question of creating a conflict of interest with your Practice duties. You must therefore seek the Partners approval before taking on any such other work or outside interest at any time after entering the Practices employment. Working Time Directive You are required to comply with the regulations governing working time.
