Summary

THE POST: Café & Events Catering Assistant
HOURS: 10hrs/2 shifts per week (with occasional additional hours to support events, which may include weekends and evenings). Availability during café hours 9am-3.30pm.

SALARY: £19,927 to £23,873 FTE (Band E).

LOCATION: The Old School, Old Wolverton Road, Old Wolverton, Milton Keynes.

DURATION: Permanent.

REPORTING TO: Café Manager or in their absence, the Café Supervisor MAIN AIM: To provide high quality food for sale in the café and for events, and assist in the day to day operation of the café.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Day-to-day support for the operation of the Old School Café:
Cook and prepare food and drink as directed by the Café Manager/Supervisor
Take orders and serve customers of the café
Clear used cutlery and plates from tables, and use the dishwasher
Clean the kitchen, café and outside seating area to an agreed standard
Comply with food hygiene and health & safety requirements as directed by the Café Manager/Supervisor.

Trainee support:
Support the day-to-day delivery of work experience opportunities for trainees, demonstrating good practice in cooking, serving customers and cleaning.

Events Catering:
Support the café and catering for events which take place at the Old School.
Some occasional weekends and out of hours work.

Other:
Answering phone calls to the café and taking accurate messages to pass on to relevant team members.
Dealing in a professional and courteous manner with all enquiries and visitors to the building.
