This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced dietitian to cover maternity leave as a Clinical Specialist dietitian who will provide dietetic clinical leadership across Metabolic services services at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) and beyond. The successful candidate will be joining an expanding multi-professional team to develop a regional paediatric metabolic service with Leicester in a joint venture to form the East Midland’s Paediatric Metabolic Service (EMPMS). The individual will hold a clinical caseload and be responsible for developing the service while working collaboratively with the MDT. As a Clinical Specialist dietitian, you will be responsible and accountable for the strategic planning, managing and provision of a highly specialist, clinically effective, safe and cost effective dietetic service to the Paediatric Metabolic service at NUH.You will act as an independent dietetic practitioner supporting the pathway of paediatric patients affected by Metabolic disorders where dietary treatment is the cornerstone of their treatments. You will provide expert opinion, advice and guidance to dietetic and consultant colleagues and other health professionals and lead on regular service development and audits.
You will be expected to work with the EMPMS Regional Lead Nurse to establish and develop a specialist metabolic dietetic service at NCH through strategic planning and service delivery. Working autonomously, you'll support pathways for Children and Young People with Inherited Metabolic Disorders, demonstrating initiative and innovation in service advancement. You'll provide regular expert advice to the wider metabolic MDT, incorporating research and education with evidence-based practice and advanced clinical judgment. Key responsibilities include managing a clinical caseload, providing daily operational support to team members, leading the team for effective and efficient service delivery, developing caseload management plans, identifying treatment priorities in complex situations, ensuring safe practice, and contributing to the learning of other dietitians while supporting leadership and management teams.

· To provide clinical leadership & advanced practice in the management of patients under the care of NUH within a specialist area.
· An autonomous HCPC registered team member providing a high standard of assessment and treatment/management of patients, some of whom may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentations in allocated area.
· The post holder’s job responsibilities are aligned with the requirements of the career framework and four pillars of practice.
· All HCPC registered professionals are professionally and legally responsible / accountable for all aspects of own and delegated work. As an autonomous professional we expect all HCPC registered professionals to be aware of the current HCPC professional standards and be able to evidence these as part of the re-registration process
