Aramark UK is recruiting a skilled, enthusiastic Chef to run the day-to-day kitchen operations for one of the 15 boarding houses at Uppingham School, a prestigious independent school in Rutland. You’ll work closely with our Group Executive Chef to deliver high-quality, nutritious food while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, service, and presentation.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a structured, term-time only role — giving you regular time off during school holidays, without stepping away from your culinary career.

Your Role – A Day in the Life:
- Lead kitchen operations within a boarding house, serving 75–80 students daily across breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Prepare, cook, and present meals to a consistently high standard, ensuring excellent service at all times
- Manage ordering, stock control, and deliveries, ensuring food safety and compliance with regulations
- Support budget control, including P&L management and cost-efficiency practices
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene through scheduled daily and weekly deep cleans
- Train, guide, and support a small team to maintain consistent performance and standards
- Work a variety of shifts including some weekend coverage
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- The legal right to work in the UK and have lived here for the last 5 years (required for enhanced DBS and vetting)
- A recognised culinary qualification or solid experience in a similar chef role
- A strong track record of catering for large numbers while creating a high-quality, personal dining experience
- A hands-on, proactive approach with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent people skills – you’re confident, approachable, and able to lead and inspire your team
