We are working with a specialist education provider to recruit a Music Tutor to lead and develop a band made up of young learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding and creative role where you’ll support learners in building their confidence, performance skills, and musical abilities through regular rehearsals and public events.

About the Role
This role involves delivering practical music sessions across several sites, coaching learners in a range of instruments and vocals, and supporting them to perform together as a band. The sessions are tailored to individual needs and focused on building teamwork, creativity, and confidence.

You’ll also be responsible for organising performances, both within the organisation and out in the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a learner band, encouraging participation, engagement, and progression
• Deliver structured, inclusive music sessions adapted to meet individual learning needs
• Teach a range of instruments such as guitar, drums, keyboard, bass, and vocals
• Foster creativity, self-expression, and performance skills
• Support learners with stage presence, audience interaction, and event preparation
• Collaborate with staff to support learner development across curriculum areas
• Organise and oversee performances and community gigs
• Maintain clear records of learner progress
• Ensure learner safety and well-being in line with safeguarding policies

Requirements

• Confident in playing and teaching multiple instruments
• Experience working with learners with additional needs or in an inclusive setting
• Experience delivering engaging, structured sessions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to travel between sites (mileage reimbursed)
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (for learner transport when required)

Desirable but not essential:

• Experience organising live performances or music events
• Knowledge of music technology and live sound equipment

What’s on Offer:

• 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increases with service)
• Westfield Health cover (after probation)
• Life assurance
• Standard Life pension
• Mileage and expense reimbursement for travel during the working day
