Crynodeb
This is a Permanent role, working 21 hours per week.
The postholder will also be required to maintain, service, calibrate and repair clinical, pharmaceutical and laboratory equipment to meet required needs; organise practical materials and prepare practical teaching and research facilities; assist in the delivery of practical sessions in teaching and/or research environments as required and support demonstrations of instruments, equipment and procedures to users.
To ensure the effective day to day running of the laboratory and clinical skills environments, the successful candidate will have to be highly organised, and work closely with a network of individuals:
• Academic colleagues
• other Technical teams
• other Professional Services teams
• other University Staff
• Suppliers
Potential candidates should have a laboratory-based background primarily in chemistry. Although backgrounds in biochemistry, microbiology, or other relevant life science discipline will be considered.
The successful candidate must:
• have a good level of education to A Level standard, preferably including a Chemistry related subject or Level 4 qualification in a Science related subject and/or evidence of equivalent experience and qualifications commensurate with the roles and responsibilities of the job.
• have demonstrable experience of delivering technical support in a laboratory environment within Chemistry or a closely related field
• have demonstrable experience of health and safety processes in a laboratory environment within Chemistry or a closely related field. E.g., risk assessments, COSHH assessments, SOPs etc.
• be able to prepare complex chemical solutions and materials for Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related experiments and practicals.
• have proficient IT skills, as well as the flexibility and willingness to gain new skills for specialist software/hardware, additional training and support will be provided as required.
Experience of working within Higher Education to deliver a first-class service to a wide variety of customers and the ability to communicate in Welsh are desirable.
