The MCA’s communication team is responsible for the delivery of public relations, marketing, digital and internal communications in support of Maritime Services, the UK Ship Register, MCA support services and HM Coastguard - the UK’s only national emergency service. The communications team manages a range of digital channels that are critical to ensuring the delivery of safety campaigns, messaging, and regulatory publications for the public and maritime sector.

The role will support delivery of internal messaging and publishing of external content. Activity will largely focus on engaging with and informing staff across the MCA. The postholder will also assist in maintaining content across other digital channels and provide publishing support and advice to other business areas. This rewarding role will help drive a culture of exceptional communication across the business. The role will motivate, inspire and engage our staff, ensuring that staff not only know and understand what’s happening across the agency and wider government, but also what it means for them and the impact they have on the organisation achieving success.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Delivering internal communications content, publishing news articles, promoting agency events, and maintaining staff-facing pages on SharePoint.
  • Managing shared inbox, monitoring and responding to incoming requests and escalating within the team as necessary.
  • Providing excellent customer service and guidance to colleagues, supporting them to communicate and publish effectively, and acting as a point of contact for incoming requests.
  • Working effectively with a range of internal stakeholders; helping to ensure that all business areas are represented on the intranet and relevant content is regularly reviewed and kept up to date.
  • Supporting delivery of other internal communication activity, including all-staff emails, newsletters, virtual events, and staff community noticeboards.
