Role Overview:

As the Groups and Events Manager based in Edinburgh you will demonstrate an exceptionally strong focus and drive to deliver and exceed revenue objectives. You will effectively promote all the hotel’s facilities and services to achieve the maximum sales revenue and client satisfaction for each event; ensure that each booking is handled efficiently from client enquiry through to arrival and departure; maintain accurate status and administration of all bookings in our property management system and communicate effectively with clients and Operations teams at each hotel ensuring the success of each event.

You will be friendly and approachable; you will go the extra mile for our guests; you will provide highly consistent good service and lead by example.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of the Events & Groups Executives in Scotland
  • With guidance from the Events & Groups Manager (Scotland) develop and maintain an annual plan for events across the Scottish portfolio, in line with business needs and objectives
  • Support account management of Tour Series Agencies including annual negotiation and contracting of Tours across Scottish portfolio
  • Coaching development and motivation of Scotland based Event Executives, ensuring the delivery of revenue in line with budget and targets set
  • Responsible for the fulfilment of all standards and procedures of the department, ensuring all SOP's and processes are effective and aimed to improve the efficiency and productivity of the team
  • Ensuring that every team member is focused on enhancing the Customer Journey, whilst maximising profit across Scotland
  • Assist MICE Sales Managers with the Account Management of key MICE Agents and related partnerships
  • Working with other regionally based Events & Groups Managers to set targets and objectives for each team member aligned to needs of the business
  • Ensuring the required Revenue and Forecast reporting is produced on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Responsibility for Event and Groups customer satisfaction, recruitment, staff training, monitoring staff performance and increasing sales for Scotland.

About you:

As the ideal candidate, you may be currently managing a busy Event and or Groups team within either hotels, conference centre or agency, with excellent leadership and management skills along with tenacious drive, passion and initiative to lead our recently formed Event and Groups team.

You will use your expertise and experience to grow the business profitability by managing, leading and developing the team.

Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines. You will have excellent time management, organisational and communication skills. Persuasive and inspiring to your team, you will also have a passion for providing and stimulating excellent customer service and high standards.

Strong commercial understanding and evidenced ability of financial forecasting, managing and negotiating contracts.

  • Knowledge of Infor Sales and Catering Systems or similar, configuration of system advantageous but not essential
  • Experience of successful delivery of annual budgeting process
  • Proven track record of personal and team achievement of KPI's, targets/budgets
  • Experience of negotiating and contracting Tour Series Contracts highly desirable
  • Event and Groups Revenue Management and space optimization experience highly desirable
