A Vacancy at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maternity Support Worker to support the Bereavement Midwife Team predominantly in the hospital setting, however requires community visits. You will be experienced in supporting maternity care, enthusiastic and caring, and must be able to work autonomously, demonstrating excellent clinical skills to provide women centred care.

Under the guidance of the Bereavement Midwife, your duties will include; making phone calls to health professionals and bereaved families, making referrals, administration tasks, making appointments and ensuring all contact is documented on the computer system. The role will involve assisting with the coordination and delivery of all aspects of bereavement care planning, following the necessary training, the post holder will support the wider Midwifery team to provide clinical care to bereaved families. You will undertake training specific for the role from the Bereavement Midwife.

The nature of this post requires that the post holder can convey complex distressing information in a clear, concise and appropriate manner. Excellent communication skills, that are sensitive and appropriate are essential for delivering the highest standards of maternity bereavement care.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a Enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months.

As this vacancy is within the division of Womens and Childrens, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.
