NHS Shropshire Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board are seeking an experiencedIndependent ChairforSouth WestShropshire PCNtowork withthe member practices of the PCN and the ICB Primary Care Team tosupportasafe,progressiveand structured approach tothedevelopment of thePCN governance and delivery modelsfollowing a recent re-organisation.
South WestShropshirePCN covers approximately 35,000 patients centred around the small towns of Ludlow, Bishops Castle, CravenArms and Church Stretton and the surrounding rural areas.South WestShropshire Primary Care Network (PCN) is an NHS collaboration between six GP practices:
• Bishops Castle Medical Practice
• Church Stretton Medical Practice
• Craven Arms Medical Practice
• Portcullis Surgery
• Station Drive Surgery
• The Meadows Medical Practice
The PCN aims to provide extended services to patients in the region. The PCN will be central to the continued development of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams / Providers.
You will have recent evidence ofrelevant experienceof similar roles, and ideally astrong understanding ofNHS commissioningand contracting,governance andmentorship.The candidate will need todemonstratea commitment to high quality patient centred care and publicinvolvement.
The successful candidate will be supported by theICBHead of Primary Care.
The independentchair for SWS PCNwill:
• Work collaborativelywith both arms of the PCNto shape the long-term,viableplan for the delivery of the functions,dutiesandobjectivesof thePCNwith the primary aim ofhigh qualityservices,equitableprovision across the population of SWS.
• Ensure that thePCNis effective in all aspects of its role and appropriately focused on thedelivery of the PCN DES andintegral within the development of an Integrated Neighbourhood Team within SWS.
• Supportcollaborative leadership and effective partnership workingbetween the PCN arms and wider neighbourhood partners.
• Act as a point of escalationand mediationwithin the PCNwhere there are challenges relating to working practices,approachesor relationships between the two arms of the PCN.
• Play a key role inestablishingand overseeing governancearrangements for thePCN, including supporting the PCNwithassuring the ICB that it is meeting the requirements of the DES in both armsof the PCN.
• Chairquarterly full PCN boardmeetingsand monthly assurance meetings with each arm of the PCN.

You will work alongside thePCN Clinical Directors and Managersof both arms as equal partnersto develop governance and boardstructures.You willbe responsible forspecific areas relating to board governance and oversight:
• Bringingindependent and respectful challenge to the plans, aims and priorities of theoverallPCN, and both arms of the PCN.
• Promoting open and transparent decision-making thatfacilitatesconsensus aimed todeliver exceptional outcomes for the populationofSWS, regardless of which arm of the PCN their practice sits in.
Personally, you will bring a range of professionalexpertiseas well as community understanding and experience to the work of thePCN. We are interested in your life experience and personal motivationsthat will add valuable personal insights such as:beinga patient, carer or service user; experience of gender and women’s issues; engaging with diverse social, economic and cultural groups and communities; experiences and challenges of younger people; and those with lived experience of mental health issues and/or living with physical chronic conditions or disability.
Experience in mediation, relationship building andcollaboration will be key tosupportingthe development of an effective Neighbourhood Team within SWS with primary carewithGPs andthe PCN at the heart ofplanninganddevelopmentof newdeliverymodels.
