Crynodeb

Hi, my name is Tiago. Can you help me live life to the full?

I am looking for a personal assistant to join my team. I am a typical young adult with a wicked sense of humour and I lead an active life. I like to hang out and play XBOX and Dungeons and Dragons; when you’re gaming, you’re free of your limitations. I enjoy outdoor adventures like sit-skiing. I study Games Development and Coding at college. I sometimes find my cerebral palsy annoying, but I try to stay positive and persevere to overcome challenges. I live in a spacious house, adapted to my needs with a well equipped room and an automatic vehicle for my personal assistant team to use on shift.

Hours: Up to 18.5 hours per week (to be discussed in interview)

Shifts: varying shifts to cover 24 hour care

Before/after college
Evenings
Weekends
College half terms/holidays
Bank Holidays
Overnight live-in shifts (this is an on-call sleep in)
Hourly Rate:

£15.00 - Monday – Friday
£17.00 – Saturday/Sunday
£12.21 - night rate 10pm-7am

Essential Requirements:
- Must be able to drive and hold a full UK Driving Licence
- Must be comfortable around my assistance dog.
- Must live in Banbury or surrounding area(s) or willing to commute.
Duties:
- Personal care
- Moving and handling
- Supporting me with my college work
- Supporting me to arrange social time with my friends
- Follow my therapy routines and programs
- Assist me with using my specialist technology and equipment to support my speech, physical, social, and educational needs.
- To support me with my assistance dogs’ daily care
- Domestic tasks around my house
- Medication administration
- Assisting me on overnight stays away from my family home.

The role will involve you working with my family, team leader, therapists and other support workers. Although the role does include working alongside other members of my support team, the role is mostly 1:1 working. This position requires you to work and conduct yourself in a professional manner.

This job will suit somebody with a positive attitude towards inclusion. You will need to be physically able to carry out my therapy program and be confident using assistive technology (with training). An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable. Otherwise, the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training. Care experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Adult and Child Workforce Barring and references from the last 5 years of employment and a personal reference.

As an individual employer, I do not offer sponsorship.

You must have a minimum of 1 year remaining on your right to work.

My vehicle insurance does not allow international driving licences.

I ask all of my support workers to take advantage of the flu and Covid-19 vaccinations, which are offered to frontline workers as a priority group.

To find out more please send me your CV and we can arrange an informal chat. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
