Transport security teams lead on National Security matters for DfT. The advertised role sits in the Land Transport National Security (LTNS) Division, which is responsible for setting policy and inspecting regulated industry in relation to counter-terrorism (CT) security.

As a Business Support Officer at DfT, you will be working within the Domestic Land Transport Security Policy Team in LTNS. Our team are responsible for CT security across the national railway and light rail networks within Great Britain. You will work with stakeholders across the department and its agencies, OGDs, industry, police and security and intelligence agencies to help to ensure that the regime remains fit for purpose and evolves in line with the evolving terrorist threat. This will be achieved by leading the management of the internal database for the domestic networks on people security, providing administrative and logistical support to the team, as well as liaising with industry and government stakeholders

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

Day including management and development the PowerBI dashboard displaying industry security contact and vetting detailsSupporting our engagement with industry in delivering our security regulations including providing administrative and logistical support to large external meetingsIdentifying opportunities to improve administrative processes, both within the Domestic Land Transport Security team and across the Division.Supporting the development and implementation of transport security policies by providing general administration to the wider teamActing as the Domestic team’s training coordinator; organising training sessions for industry, which includes leading on administration, logistics (e.g. venue, travel and hospitality) and liaising with stakeholders.Participating in internal and external exercises and training events.
