SEND Resolution Officer


Annual Salary: £275 - £400 per day
Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire
Job Type: Temporary (ASAP to August 31st)

Purpose of the Role

As a SEND Resolution Officer, you will manage complex casework and provide expert advice to reduce the risk of appeals to Tribunals. You will represent the service and develop practices within the Special Educational Needs Team.

Responsibilities
- Lead on complex SEN issues, mediating between parents, schools, and practitioners.
- Offer expert advice on the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST).
- Attend meetings to resolve disputes, negotiating changes to EHC plans with tact and diplomacy.
- Promote early mediation to reduce tribunal cases.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date database information.
- Represent the Local Authority at SEND Tribunals, defending the proposed service provisions.
- Provide leadership in case management of SEN appeal-related cases.

Qualifications & Experience
- GCSEs in English and Maths (grade 4/C or above).
- Professional qualifications in education or relevant field.
- In-depth knowledge of current SEN legislation and processes.
- Extensive experience in SEN case management and tribunal processes.
- Proven ability to manage conflict and disputes effectively.
- Proficient in using ICT to capture data and monitor performance.

Skills
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and manage complex cases.
- Committed to continuous improvement and training.

Desirable
- Professional qualification in Education, Social Care, or Health.
- Experience with the Capita system.
