Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established Ofsted-rated "Good" primary school in Widnes as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support a year 5 pupil on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time temporary contract supporting a pupil with a dual ADHD and ASD diagnosis. This pupil is an extremely caring young pupil who struggles with his engagement and focus.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be the main point of contact for a pupil with a dual ASD and ADHD diagnosis. You will meet them at the school gate and walk them back to their grown-ups at the end of the day. You will support your new pupil across the school as they spend half of their time in the year 5 class and half of their time within a resource base. They do struggle with their engagement and focus throughout the day. To support this, you will play small games to retain focus and implement an array of positive behaviour strategies, which will over time help them access the curriculum in the main classroom. As well as supporting them with their behaviour, you will offer tailored interventions in key areas as identified by the class teacher.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, as well as:
- Experience supporting ASD and/or behavioural needs
- Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
- Be able to commit to a full-time long-term contract
What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits which include:
- Free training
- Upfront cost of DBS covered
- Long-term contract
- Highly competitive rate of pay
- Company pension scheme
- Full holiday entitlement
- Access to exclusive vacancies
- Refer a Friend scheme
