You’ll be a strong communicator who can effectively translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across teams. A natural problem solver, you’re curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with others to develop solutions. Experience in delivering IT or digital projects and designing technical solutions is essential. Most importantly, you’re user-focused, committed to understanding and addressing user needs as part of a service design approachWhat's the role about?We’re looking for a Solutions Architect with 3-5 years of experience to join our Technology & Digital team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that span customer engagement, data platforms, and operational systems - all in support of nature conservation.You’ll work collaboratively with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and senior architects to design and guide the implementation of scalable, secure, and sustainable technology solutions across the RSPB’s digital and enterprise landscape.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign end-to-end solution architectures for medium-scale business and digital transformation initiativesTranslate business requirements into technical designs that are aligned with architectural principles and strategic goalsCollaborate with product owners, developers, data teams, and third-party vendors to ensure smooth delivery of solutionsAssess and recommend appropriate technology options, integrations, and platforms (e.g. cloud, SaaS, APIs)Maintain up-to-date solution documentation and ensure reusability of architectural componentsParticipate in governance forums, architecture reviews, and support the development of enterprise architecture artefactsEnsure solutions meet security, compliance, data protection, and accessibility standardsChampion sustainable and inclusive design approaches that reflect RSPB’s environmental and ethical valuesEssential:Proven experience (3-5 years) in solution architecture or a closely related technical roleSolid understanding of modern architecture patterns (e.g. microservices, APIs, cloud-native, event-driven design)Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, or GCP) and SaaS ecosystemsStrong collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholdersAbility to produce clear architecture documentationExperience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environmentsStrong problem-solving skills and a proactive, delivery-focused mindsetDesirable:Experience within the charity, non-profit, or public sectorFamiliarity with CRM systems (e.g. Dynamics 365, Salesforce), data platformsAdditional InformationWhat We OfferA chance to work for a purpose-driven organisation tackling the most important issues of our timeFlexible working options and a supportive, inclusive cultureOpportunities for professional growth and learningEmployee benefits including pension scheme, generous 34 days annual leave (incl. bank holidays), and wellbeing supportAdditional InformationThis is a permanent full-time role for 37.5 hours per week.We are looking to conduct interviews for this position as soon as is practicable.
