Are you a proactive and skilled Maintenance Engineer looking to take the next step in your career? The role is primarily hands-on, with a 60/40 or 50/50 split between mechanical and electrical work depending on the individual’s background.

There is also opportunity for initiative ownership such as machinery and process modification projects focussed on increasing run rates or reliability

This job would suit gifted and hungry junior engineer looking to extend your skills, prove your worth and have exposure to all aspects of engineering. You will gain invaluable experience and become truly multiskilled with this role.

To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:

• Proven experience in a Maintenance Engineer role within a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge, with experience working on electrical components such as motors, solenoids, VFDs, and three-phase machinery.
• Ability to diagnose faults and repair mechanical and electrical systems efficiently.
• Good understanding of health & safety legislation and food industry compliance.
• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic production environment.
• Experience working with automation, PLCs, pneumatics, and hydraulics is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams.

Within this position, you’ll also be:

• Perform routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive maintenance needs across the site.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and food safety standards.
• Maintain, repair, and optimize production machinery including conveyors, mixers, packaging machines, and automation systems.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment to support production growth.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements to enhance overall equipment performance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and update logs to ensure compliance with company policies.
• Support production teams by providing technical advice and solutions for equipment-related issues.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior team members to develop their technical skills.

Salary & Working Hours

Salary is up to £40,000 per annum

Hours – Monday to Friday 10am-7pm with occasional weekend
