Are you passionate about working with young people?
Are you looking for a way to positively impact people’s lives?
United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with special educational needs (SEN), learning disabilities and mental health needs. We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.
We’re looking for a passionate Job Coach to help drive our café enterprise in Torbay, supporting individuals with additional needs to gain valuable skills and confidence in a real working environment. This hands-on role includes assisting with the day-to-day running of the café, while mentoring people in hospitality and catering tasks — from cooking and baking to customer service and cleaning. Ideally, you’ll bring at least a year’s experience in catering and a genuine understanding of the challenges people may face entering the workplace. Your ability to teach and inspire will help transform opportunities for people and enable them to access meaningful employment in catering and hospitality environments in the future.
The benefits
In return for your passion and commitment, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including:
- 28 days paid annual leave inclusive of bank holidays (pro rata for part time), increasing after three and five years’ service
- Pension contribution
- Work-life balance support
- Access to free occupational health, physiotherapy, counselling and advice services
- Fully paid training and access to nationally recognised qualifications
- Travel to work scheme (season ticket loan)
- Access to an online shopping platform with discounts from over 3,500 retailers
- X2 wellbeing days per year
This post is based in Torbay and involves delivering a mix of education and work-related activity both one-to-one and in groups.
The successful candidate will engage with young people through community delivery to motivate and encourage participation and meet project outcomes. You will hold a full UK driving licence and support the sustainable integration into the labour market of young people aged 16 to 24, particularly those with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP), complex needs, those at risk of social exclusion and young people from marginalised communities.
United Response is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff to share this commitment. Successful applicants in regulated activity will be subject to appropriate vetting procedures and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
