This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

We’re looking for someone who loves the outdoor life and wants to help people to enjoy it in their own way. Our Active Outdoors Assistant role is all about giving people a warm welcome, sharing practical information and offering helpful advice. Supporting our Summer of Play active outdoor activities, you’ll play a key part in making sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable experience.

What it's like to work here
Nymans’ famed grade II listed garden is a key attraction at the estate. The garden has a nationally significant collection of plants, including rare Chilean and South African species. This is a wonderful opportunity to work in an artistic environment with a hard-working team who set and achieve ambitious targets. The varied programme of events at Nymans’ includes outdoor theatre, jazz and photography workshops. The bookshop regularly hosts readings by local authors.

What you'll be doing
Over the Summer of Play programme, the Active Outdoors Assistant role will help set up the activities and pack down at the end of the day, ensuring presentation standards of the Play zones remain high throughout the summer, providing the safe and clean experience visitors expect. The role will welcome and engage with families daily and also help in hosting or facilitating featured games on some days.

Who we're looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

focused on giving great service to everyone you meet
a team player, but also happy to work on your own initiative
