About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and qualified GCSE English or Maths Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 education to students who are currently not in mainstream school. These tailored sessions are designed to re-engage young learners, build their confidence, and help them bridge gaps in their learning.
As an Outreach Tutor, you will:
- Plan and deliver bespoke lessons tailored to individual student needs
- Provide structured, engaging, and supportive sessions that boost progress and motivation
- Help students re-establish a positive relationship with learning after time out of education
This is an ideal role for experienced teachers looking to move away from the traditional classroom setting in favour of a more flexible, student-focused approach.
Contract Details
- Location: Various locations across Havering and surrounding areas
- Position: 1:1 Outreach Tutor (English or Maths GCSE focus)
- Contract Type: Temporary, with flexible hours
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Varies depending on each student
- Pay Rate: From £25 per hour
- Hours: Sessions typically range from 1-3 hours
Requirements
- Recognised UK teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum 6 months' experience teaching in a UK school
- Strong subject knowledge in either GCSE English or Maths
- Recent safeguarding training (desirable but not essential - can be provided)
To be considered, you must:
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold (or be willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service
- Be able to provide two professional child-related references from the last two years
