What skills and experience we're looking for
At Carr Infants, we are proud to be one of only two infant schools in York, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational foundation of young learners. We create an environment that nurtures individuality, encouraging pupils to progress as quick as possible, but as slow as necessary. With most of the planning taken care of, our staff can focus on what truly matters—delivering engaging lessons and forming meaningful connections with students. We also keep meetings to a minimum, respecting your time and promoting a healthy work-life balance. At Carr Infants, you’ll be part of a small, dedicated team that plays a vital role in shaping the educational journey of every child, in a school that truly values the importance of early childhood education.
Carr Infant School is on an exciting journey of improvement under the leadership of our new headteacher who joined us in April 2024. With a clear vision for the future, we are focused on unlocking the school’s full potential and ensuring the very best outcomes for our children.
We are looking for someone who shares our ambition and is eager to be part of this transformation. At Carr Infants, we pride ourselves on having a consistent and structured way of working that not only provides teachers with clarity in their role but also helps to reduce workload, allowing you to focus on what truly matters—teaching and inspiring our children.
We are looking for a strong practitioner with excellent behaviour management skills to work within our EYFS team.
What the school offers its staff
Carr Infant School’s ethos is built around confidence, communication, and creativity. We encourage staff and pupils alike to embrace challenges with self-assurance, collaborate effectively, and problem solve with our school frameworks. These values are at the heart of everything we do, shaping a nurturing and inspiring environment for both learning and teaching.
We prioritise staff wellbeing by ensuring that teacher planning and resourcing is already provided to help you focus on meeting the individual needs of your children. This approach allows our teachers to maintain a healthy work-life balance while delivering high-quality, tailored education to our pupils.
At Carr Infant School, our children are at the heart of what makes our school a truly rewarding place to work. While our school is not without its challenges, our children are a wonderful and inspiring group to work with, bringing joy, curiosity, and unique opportunities for personal and professional growth to every day.
Visits or video calls with the headteacher arestrongly recommended.
