Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term time)

The Governing Body of St. Bernadette’s RC Primary School are seeking to appoint a Grade 3 Teaching Assistant. Applications are welcomed from teaching assistants who are committed to children’s well-being and the raising of standards with a willingness to contribute to curriculum development and the wider life of the school. Applicants are requested to indicate their curriculum strengths/interests.

• is sensitive to the emotional, social and wellbeing needs of children;
• has the ability to build good relationships with children, parents, governors and the wider community.
• has a personal philosophy centred around the well-being and inclusion of all pupils.
• has the ability to inspire a love of learning in children.
• has an understanding and respect the principles of confidentiality.
• has the ability to deal calmly with different situations as they arise.
• has good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to relate well to children and adults.
• works constructively and flexibly as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities.
• has the ability to identify own training and development needs and participate in on-going training
• will liaise well with the Additional Needs Co-ordinator in the provision of children’s support programmes

Short-listed candidates will be observed working with children and be interviewed.
Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers will need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) from 1st April 2016.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a successful Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
This salary is subject to the Living Wage supplement which brings pay rates up to £12 per hour (scp 2 - 4). This supplement will be reviewed in January 2024 and thereafter annually in April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage supplement.
