We would love you to join the Team at Nailsea School, as part of our wider Cover Team, with a joint role of Cover Administrator, planning and coordinating the cover of lessons for absent teaching staff and Cover Supervisor, overseeing the learning of whole classes during the short-term absence of their class teacher.Within the Cover Administrator role, you will be receiving messages from unplanned absent staff at the start of the day, and enter these on our MIS (Bromcom), identifying classes where cover is required and allocating Cover Supervisors, any available teachers or agency staff as efficiently as possible to fulfil this. In addition, you will liaise with our internal HR Officer, who oversees planned absences, on forward planning the staffing needs and identifying any potential shortfalls and contacting external agency/supply staff as required. It is envisaged that, where possible, the administration aspects will take place until 9:00am (the start of Period 1), and no Cover responsibilities would be allocated to Period 5, after lunch to allow planning for the following day.Within the Cover Supervisor aspect of the role, you will ensure that classes are effectively supervised and supported, and that the work set by the class teacher is completed to a satisfactory level. When not required to cover in lessons during the day, you will continue with the administrative aspects of the role, planning and organising cover needs.The role would suit anyone who can demonstrate a passion for encouraging students to learn and do their best, perhaps a current administrator who is seeking some classroom-based experience, someone who is thinking about training to be a teacher in the future or a newly qualified teacher, and someone who enjoys an early start/finish to their working day.The main responsibilities within this role are to:Coordinate and record the unplanned staff absence, and ensure teaching staff requirements are metRecording absence on the MIS system (Bromcom)Forward plan for future staffing needs, looking at cover availability and need, and liaising with agency/supply staff on future staffing needsDeliver the lesson plans of absent teaching staff, and support students in the work that has been set
Record and report attendance at lessons in accordance with school policyManage student behaviour to ensure a constructive working environment, in accordance with school policy
