Location: Chaldon, Surrey

Start Date: September 2025

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Are you a passionate and dedicated SENCO with a commitment to transforming the lives of young people with Autism?

An innovative and nurturing special school in the Chaldon area of Surrey is seeking to appoint an exceptional SENCO to join our team. We are dedicated to supporting young people with Autism and associated communication and interaction difficulties, and we are looking for a leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students.

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. The successful candidate will be an exemplary practitioner with a deep understanding of the needs of students with Autism. You will be responsible for leading and managing the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring that each student receives the tailored support they need to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategically lead and develop the school's SEN provision.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordinate provision for students with SEN.
  • Liaise with and advise fellow teachers on the effective teaching and learning of students with SEN.
  • Monitor student progress and the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Contribute to the professional development of staff in the area of special educational needs.
We are looking for a candidate who:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has proven experience and a genuine passion for supporting young people with Autism.
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Has excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Is a resilient, creative, and strategic thinker.
  • Preferably holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or has a willingness to complete it.
What We Offer:

You will be part of a dedicated and professional team committed to making a real difference. We offer a supportive working environment, ongoing professional development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a growing and dynamic organisation.

If you are an ambitious and dedicated SENCO ready to embrace this exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you.
