Please note in regards to location this role will travel across multiple sites in across Merton Borough (including Wimbledon and Raynes Park)Contract: This is a fixed term position for 2 years Working hours: Minimum of 35 hours per week Salary information: 21 hours will be paid on the Main pay band rate of £15.36 per hour and 14 hours will be paid at the London pay band rate of £17.21 per hour (Working 14 hours per week)Interview Date: 2nd July 2025The role will be working across Merton Borough enabling the mission of The Salvation Army to flourish. This will include Raynes Park Corps community activities, Star Fish Mentoring, Mitcham Omnibus Project. Borough Winter Night Shelter and Christmas Present Appeal. The role will be peripatetic in nature.You will…Facilitate people’s Christian discipleship, worship and social action, leading prayer, facilitating group worship, providing pastoral support as appropriate, and modelling a consistent Christian lifestyle within the communityProvide a safe, well-presented and welcoming environment for all members of the community (ensuring equality of opportunity for all) where they can engage with community activities and receive support with a wide range of practical and spiritual needsWork to build and maintain positive working relationships with the wider Salvation Army, other faith organisations and churches, statutory and NGO agencies, local schools and the local council where relevantFulfil your duties in alignment with all relevant Salvation Army and statutory policies and procedures including health and safety, safeguarding, data protection, equality and diversityYou have…Strong previous experience of working successfully in a similar role developing and managing corps/church programmes to meet the needs of the community, with experience of corps/church leadership, and helping people explore the Christian faith in creative and relevant ways Demonstrable strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the proven ability to convey information to the community and colleagues in a clear, effective and professional manner A valid category D UK driving licence or equivalent, or a willingness to attain the licence within an agreed time scaleThe ability to work flexibly to deliver the requirements of your role such as evening work/weekend workThis role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed, practising Christian, actively involved in your own church and will be in sympathy with the doctrines of, and supportive of, the purposes and the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army.
