We are reimagining Building Control services in Colchester - Britain first, and newest, City and we are seeking an outstanding Building Control Manager to lead strategic direction, transform Building Control services and continue our vision. Your Role: Lead Strategic Excellence, Drive Innovation, and Reduce Risk

As Building Control Manager, you'll play a critical role in the long-term success of our service. You'll lead on strategic development, regulatory compliance, and operational improvement.. ensuring we stay responsive, consistent, and ahead of change.

In this role, you will:

Lead the strategic direction of Building Control across Colchester, aligning practice with regulation, safety, and growth.
Drive process improvement, innovation, and efficiency across systems,
workflows, and customer service.
Champion quality assurance and manage operational risk, ensuring full compliance with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) framework.
Provide line management, motivation, and leadership to a skilled and growing team.
Develop policies, standards, and procedures that support a modern, proactive, and trusted Building Control service.
Represent the service in strategic partnerships, internal collaboration, and high level stakeholder engagement.

This is a leadership role with wide-reaching influence that is not focused on personal site work, but on shaping a team and service that others want to follow.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced, strategic, and values-led Registered Building Inspector (RBI) at Class 4, who can bring:

A proven track record of leadership in Building Control.
Deep understanding of complex compliance requirements, with a proactive approach to risk management.
Experience designing, implementing, and improving operational systems and service models.
Strong people management skills from managing, mentoring, coaching development to performance and morale.
Strategic thinking, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to influence both internally and externally.
Commitment to upholding safety, accountability, and professional standards
