Summary
Band 7 Psychological Therapist, (Skin cancer).
0.5wte. Based at Broomfield hospital, Essex.
The psychological therapies Service (PTS) is a hospital based service, offering treatment to both inpatients and outpatients from a wide range of medical specialities. We are vibrant, multidisciplinary team which includes psychotherapists, counsellors, clinical and counselling psychologists, creative therapists and administrators. The postholder will become part of the team working with oncology and palliative care patients. They will be linked with the skin cancer MDT based in the regional St Andrews centre for plastic surgery and Burns. Each day will involve a mixture of inpatient and outpatient work. There a opportunities for creative, joint and group work.
The role is supported by the wider PTS team that has staff in other clinical areas at Broomfield and across the other MSEFT sites. We prioritise supporting our staff and their development by providing both individual and group supervision as well as regular team discussions/ away days. We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals, who are resilient and able to meet the challenge of this complex work. We require candidates who are able to work on their own imitative as well as in a team with a displayed interest in the link between physical and psychological health.
• To provide psychological screening, psychosocial information, assessment and treatment to patients and their families in the oncology skin cancer service.
• To provide an outpatient psychological service to patients, and families when appropriate regarding managing their cancer and / or palliative care.
• To provide training to staff on relevant psychological and mental health issues.
• To provide specialist input with clinical autonomy, working in ways which are sensitive to the needs of patients and staff from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds.
