Trainee Butchers

You’ll get the chance to acquire the skills that are needed to become a qualified butcher, learning how to Butcher and prepare Pork carcasses, for use within the Browns food Group and businesses. · You’ll not only learn knife skills, you’ll learn about products and cuts of meat, the journey the meat makes from farm to fork and all aspects of butchering meat.
Position Purpose Statement
· We will train you to work on a production line, trimming and deboning Pork Primals
· You’ll work as an apprentice in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge to complete your SVQ qualification, and become competent in all areas of the department .
Key Responsibilities,
· Tasks and... Learn how to use a knife to trim pork to specification.
· Learn how to visually inspect product to ensure specifications are adhered to.
· Develop a knowledge of product specifications.
· Learn how to maintain a sharp knife.
· Manually handle product and product in trays.
· Support the department with general production operative duties.
· Ask Trainer, Team Leader, QC Operative and colleagues questions to develop knowledge and understanding.
· Manually handle product.
· Hygiene (Our perfect Butcher will maintain Health & Safety, hygiene and food quality standards

· Skills and Experience: Full training provided No butchery experience required The ability to respond positively to change and work well under pressure Willingness to work and learn
Hours are 6am - 2.30pm Monday - Friday
