About the Role – Geography Graduate Teaching Assistant

This full-time Geography Graduate Teaching Assistant position offers the chance to gain invaluable classroom experience in a school celebrated for its inclusive ethos and academic ambition. You'll be supporting students across Key Stage 3 to A-Level, helping them build confidence in their geographical knowledge, analytical thinking, and curiosity about both human and physical geography.

Working closely with experienced teachers, you’ll play an active role in delivering high-quality support and ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed.

Your Responsibilities as a Geography Graduate Teaching Assistant

As a Geography Graduate Teaching Assistant, your day-to-day will include:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils needing extra help in Geography
• Assisting in lesson delivery and resource preparation alongside the teaching team
• Supporting students in understanding key concepts such as climate change, globalisation, and urban development
• Helping students improve exam technique, map skills, and data interpretation
• Encouraging critical thinking and classroom discussion through guided support
• Monitoring student progress and feeding back to teaching staff

Who We’re Looking For – Geography Graduate Teaching Assistant

To be successful in this Geography Graduate Teaching Assistant role, you should bring:

• A 2:1 or above in Geography, or a related subject such as Geology, Environmental Science or Urban Planning
• A genuine passion for education and making Geography engaging for young people
• Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills
• A proactive mindset and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
• Any prior experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is a plus, but not essential
