Crynodeb

The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) is an integral member of the ICCNT team. They will assist and support nursing, medical, and other professional staff in the delivery of high standardsof holistic family centred care to children and families. The Healthcare Assistant will provide the highest standards of nursing care to children and their families.They will undertake phlebotomy procedures in a variety of settings; department, home, school or community base once fully trained and competent.The Healthcare assistant will be an effective communicator in all aspects of their duties both in direct and indirect patient care.The Healthcare Assistant will work in collaboration with the healthcare teams within the Community and Trust.They will work within the confines of their mandatory and statutory obligations, to the prevention and control of infection in all care settings. Theywill undertake delegated nursing tasks as deemed necessary toenhance the care of the patient, some of which may be competency based.; wound dressings, stoma care, height and weights, baseline observations including blood pressure, venepuncture, cannulation and capillary blood sampling.The Healthcare Assistant will assess and report risk to the Childrens Community Nurse (CCN)lead nurses. The post holder will assist in the orientation and education of new staff.The Healthcare Assistant will take responsibility for, prioritise and manage own workload to support clinical team.Work without direct supervision using experience and knowledge to ensure the highestquality care is deliveredPromote and maintain a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
