Crynodeb

Do you want to work for an organisation that values difference and includes everyone? Then the Environment Agency is the organisation for you!

This is an exciting opportunity in which you will use your drive and vision to provide leadership and direction to the Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team in Herts and North London Area.
The team you lead will be specialists who work to deliver environmental improvements for water quality, water resources and river catchments. A key focus in the next five years will be working closely with water companies on their investment programmes. Your teams will work with others in our National Directorate to hold water companies to account in their commitments to protect the environment. Your role will include maintaining the health, safety and wellbeing of your team, supporting them to develop themselves, identifying training needs and managing ways of working to ensure we can meet the needs of the future. You will need to balance the work within your team to ensure that they are focussed on the areas that will deliver the greatest environmental benefit.
You will oversee budgets, work planning, and recruitment whilst needing to be flexible and adaptable to changing work priorities.

You will be a role model and promote inclusion by respecting differences in our workforce and build a supportive and engaging workplace.

You will also take an active role in the area for the Environment Agency’s Incident response. Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team

We’re a team of trusted advisors at the heart of environmental decision making, bringing together internal and external partners to facilitate integrated actions and collective delivery. This team is one of 2 IEP Teams in the Area, and leads on integrated environmental planning, with a focus on the water quality (with the other team focussing on Water Resources)

Experience/skills required

The successful candidate should enjoy the challenge of working in a busy team, with tight deadlines, and will be
- passionate about managing, developing and supporting a team with multiple priorities and competing demands
- Enthusiastic to achieve results and in your ability to lead others to do the same.
- a positive role model who embodies Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and can inspire, motivate and enthuse a diverse range of people
- able to balance and manage demands on the team from internal and external sources to help prioritise and manage workloads.
- an excellent communicator, who can influence teams and partners to think strategically when delivering environmental outcomes.
- Able to influence the delivery of outcomes through others, often across multiple teams, and to influence our partners.
- Apply your experience of managing the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
