What skills and experience we're looking for
The governors at Westways Primary are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic school community - the right candidate will help to support high quality teaching and learning as well as the effective use of resources to bring about improved standards of achievement for all pupils.
As part of this role, the individual will also supervise and lead engaging activities for children in our newly established After School Club. We are extremely proud to be offering our own after school provision for the first time and as a result, we are keen to recruit an enthusiastic childcare professional to join our team of playworkers. They will contribute to providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for our children from Reception to Year 6.
We are looking for someone who:
• Develops and maintains high standards to ensure the welfare of the children at all times
• Has excellent communication skills
• Shows initiative and the ability to use judgement and common sense
• Works flexibly within a supportive and committed team
• Can form positive and caring relationships with children which motivates them to learn, grow and be confident
• Are committed to inclusion and working in partnership with our parents and carers
• Have an understanding and experience of strategies designed to support children with social and emotional and communication and interaction difficulties
• Is able to demonstrate a range of strategies used to support emotional regulation
• Supervises and provides particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
• Uses strategies, under the supervision and guidance of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
• Set ups, delivers and takes part in a wide range of engaging activities to support the children’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual development whilst giving consideration to the diversity of our school community
• Supervises and supports children with a variety of activities
• Supports the cook with the preparing, serving and clearing up of snacks
• Is a good team player who is willing to contribute to the ethos and wider community of the school
• Has a sense of humour, combined with energy and enthusiasm
• Shares our commitment to professional development

The successful candidate will have:
• GCSE English and Maths Grade A-C (or equivalent)
• NVQ3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience
• Understanding of National Curriculum and the EYFS Framework
• An understanding of good quality childcare
• Confidence with using technology
• A commitment to safeguarding
