This assistant role within Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Farm Wildlife Advice Team, which forms part of the wider Wilder Landscapes Team, supports the delivery of wildlife advice and habitat improvement across Suffolk’s farmers and landowners, helping the Trust achieve its vision for a Wilder Suffolk and strategic goals of 30% of our county to be connected and well looked after for nature by 2030.
Working under the guidance of the Wilder Landscapes Advice Manager and alongside experienced Farm Wildlife Advisers, you will contribute to habitat creation and management projects, assist with the delivery of agri-environment schemes and other funded work, and support the development of landscape-scale conservation initiatives. You will also help to build and maintain relationships with farmers and landowners, contribute to community engagement through events and communications, and play an active role in promoting wildlife-friendly farming practices across the county.
This is a learning and development opportunity, offering a chance to gain expertise in farm wildlife, habitat management and wider ecology, while supporting one of Suffolk’s leading nature conservation organisations.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with a local wildlife trust and do amazing things for wildlife.
The role is a 12-month fixed-term position funded by Heritage Lottery Fund as part of Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Worlingham Marshes Project. The hours of work are 22.5 hours per week (we can be flexible on days and hours) based at our Head Office Brooke House in Ashbocking. The starting salary will be £14,286.00 per annum (FTE £23,810.00).
To apply for this opportunity, please submit an application via our website by 9:00am on Monday 30 June 2025. The interviews are planned for Monday 14 July 2025. The application process will include uploading a CV and optional cover letter.
Suffolk Wildlife Trust is committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone is welcome. As a conservation charity, we recognise the importance of diversity in both nature and our workforce of staff and volunteers. We strive to ensure that everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute to our vision of “A Wilder Suffolk where nature is thriving and abundant because everyone is doing more to help”.
