Our client is a leading food manufacturing company, the site is part of a larger national organisation. Due to growth and further expansion within the engineering team, they are looking for an Engineering Purchaser for their busy maintenance spares/parts area.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for ensuring spare parts for maintenance and servicing are in stock & payments made
  • Purchase engineering equipment & parts to agreed spec, on time, in full and at the best cost
  • Identify areas where cost and waste can be reduced
  • Responsible for stores administration, financial reporting & admin
  • Process PO's in an accurate and timely manner to the finance teams
  • Develop strong working relationships with suppliers
  • Carry out stock take of the engineering stores
  • Work closely with the engineering stores manager to create better stock flow & control
  • Control spares costs and report on any higher costings or discontinued

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Have previous working experience as an engineering purchaser
  • Ideally have food manufacturing experience
  • Strong financial & purchasing skills
  • Beneficial if worked in an engineering maintenance function
  • Good IT skills, with strong Microsoft Excel experience
  • Approaches tasks with a can-do attitude with the ability to create solutions to problems
  • Worked closely with finance teams, looking at costings, raising PO's
  • Need to be a methodical character & good communicator
  • Able to learn new IT systems quickly
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ideally have experience of conducting engineering parts stock takes
