The Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Support Analyst to play a pivotal role in its IT Operations and Cyber Security Team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the protection and enhancement of the UK’s natural environment through innovative technology solutions. Based in either Peterborough or Aberdeen with flexible working options, the successful candidate will provide expert second and third-line support, manage critical infrastructure, and collaborate across departments to ensure secure, efficient, and future-ready IT services. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical foundation and a proactive approach to IT support and cyber security. Essential qualifications include advanced expertise in identity management using Azure Active Directory, implementation of Multi-Factor Authentication, and configuration of conditional access policies. Strong skills in endpoint management are required, particularly with Microsoft Endpoint Manager and Intune for mobile and device compliance. Candidates should also demonstrate proficiency in configuring and managing Windows Defender, applying security best practices, and responding to threats. A solid understanding of Microsoft Azure fundamentals—including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and virtual machine deployment—is key, along with experience in managing Office 365 environments, VPNs, and network infrastructure. Desirable skills include the ability to create intelligent forms using Microsoft Power Automate. A commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and delivering high-quality support services is essential for success in this role.

Post Duties
1. Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and VPN technology for remote users.
2. Utilise centralised software deployment tools for application updates and automated laptop builds for new users.
3. Manage network servers, critical services (DNS, DHCP), virtual desktops, and backup systems.
4. Collaborate with the Cyber Security Officer for system patching and manage JNCC's Office 365 and Azure environments.
5. Administer the Endpoint Manager mobile device management system and provide technical support for corporate Apple phones.
6. Respond to helpdesk tickets, resolve technical issues, document solutions, and share knowledge with colleagues.
7. Engage in continuous learning, research projects, and business partnering to meet JNCC's technical infrastructure needs.

Technical

To be a successful candidate you will be/have:

• Have a good understand of Advanced Identity Management in both an on-premises windows network and a M365 cloud environment including Azure Active Directory, MFA and conditional and compliance polices
• Advanced knowledge of Endpoint Management utilising Microsoft Intune to manage and secure both Windows and Apple devices
• Security and Compliance, a thorough understanding management, deployment and monitoring of Microsoft defender deliver through the M365 portal.
• Microsoft Azure – an understand of services such as cloud storage, IaaS and PaaS services, familiarity with azure subscriptions and management resource groups


Experience (Responsibilities)

To be a successful candidate you will have:

• At least 1 years of experience of working on a service desk dealing with and resolving 2/3rd line calls
• Experience to foundation level of working with Microsoft Azure
• 2 years of experience of working within a technical team managing endpoint devices, Windows network servers and network work data storage devices
• At least 1 years’ experience of researching and project managing the deployment of new systems to increase efficiencies to the network
