Substantive Consultant Medical Oncologist (Melanoma/Lung Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust10 Programmed Activity contract: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Trust as a substantiative Consultant Medical Oncologist covering melanoma and lung cancer. The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest and busiest Trusts in London with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence and world-class care. In January 2025, the Royal Free London and North Middlesex University Hospitals Trusts merged, and we now deliver care to over 2 million people a year through our four main health units. There are chemotherapy infusion suites to treat cancer patients at The Royal Free, Finchley Memorial, North Middlesex and Chase Farm health units whilst radiotherapy is delivered at the Royal Free and North Middlesex health units. The Trust is one of the highest volume providers of melanoma and lung cancer care within London. The post-holder will work alongside medical and clinical oncology colleagues at the Royal Free and Barnet heath units and will be essential for service provision as well as the development of the immunotherapy and Barnet AOS services.
To further develop and support the melanoma medical oncology services at the Royal Free health unit. To develop and support the lung medical oncology service at Royal Free and Barnet health units. To lead the immunotherapy MDT and the immunotherapy toxicity clinic. To lead on Barnet AOS. To lead clinical trials in melanoma and lung. To attend the weekly tumour specific melanoma and lung MDTs. To take responsibility for the designated clinical workload including all relevant MDMs, out-patient clinics, and review and responsibility for in-patients. To participate in the consultant on-call rota for oncology at Royal Free health unit (1 in 18)To provide postgraduate teaching for junior staffs. To provide clinical supervision for specialist registrars. To participate in undergraduate medical student teaching To comply with all the clinical governance processes and procedures of the Trust Compliance with Patients’ Charter and Purchasers’ requirements. To lead and participate in medical audit as per Royal College of Physicians guidelines. To maintain Continuing Professional Development accreditation as per Royal College of Physicians guidelines. To participate in the Trust appraisal programme and GMC revalidation processes. The Trust supports the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.

2. Nature of Employment and Hours of Work
This is a full time NHS appointment attracting 10 PAs plus a 1 in 18 acute oncology (category B). Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; appropriate modification of the job content should, however, be discussed with the Clinical service Lead (Dr Neha Chopra) and Consultant colleagues prior to taking up the appointment.
