Planning - Shaping Tomorrow's Communities Today

Wiltshire is proud to be one of the largest and most ambitious planning authorities in the country. We are on a mission to become the best planning service we can be. With a major investment in additional staffing, we can offer the following opportunities to widen your skills and shape the future of a thriving county with so much to offer.

These roles also offer the opportunity for someone already working at a similar level to develop expertise in plan-making from a minerals and waste perspective. Minerals are essential for building homes and infrastructure, and along with a transition to a circular economy, this is a great time to get involved in these vital and interesting areas of land-use planning.

As a planning officer, you will research policy and infrastructure issues and prepare reports with recommendations for project leads to use in planning documents, utilising databases and GIS.

Skills, Knowledge & experience required

Demonstrable working knowledge of the UK planning system and plan-making processes
Fully RTPI-accredited postgraduate degree
Good understanding of or interest in specialist planning minerals and waste policy themes
Understanding of the examination process
Proven experience in research and report writing for a wider range of stakeholders.
This role may be subject to certain successful security checks; please see the role description for more information.
