JOB PURPOSE:
1. To provide appropriate care, support, social and leisure activities in order to ensure each
Service User is able to maximise their independence, fulfilment and make choices in all areas
of their lives.
2. To undertake administrative, financial and household tasks as delegated by the Manager/Care
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1 To assist the Service Users with eating and drinking and personal care needs.
2 To participate in assessment, care planning and review meetings.
3 To assist the Service Users who require support as a result of physical, intellectual
or sensory impairment to maximise their mobility and independence. This will
include pushing wheelchairs and operating aids such as hoists, as well as lending
physical support to Service Users.
4 To prepare hot meals and snacks as necessary.
5 To involve the Service Users in domestic tasks and laundry as well as assisting with

shopping.
6 To assist in developing and actively take part in a range of social and leisure
activities (personalised in line with Service User preferences) and to support the
Service Users to access community facilities.
7 To promote individual independence and choice.
8 In consultation with the Service User, Manager and Care Leaders or other
appropriate person, ensure clear communication with Social Services, Day Centres,
Families/Carers or any other appropriate person or professional involved in the
Service User’s lives.
9 To undertake the role of Key Worker for the Service User to ensure all
documentation is up to date.
10 Record and report to Manager, Care Leader or any other appropriate person, any identified safeguarding or other risks to Service Users and staff, e.g. harm, self harm, threats of, or actual physical aggression to other Service Users or staff.
11 To adhere to all Father Hudson’s Care policies and procedures and those of
statutory authorities, as well as any other relevant and recognised policies, codes of conduct or best practice.
12 To attend regular supervision sessions and staff meetings as arranged by the
Manager.
HOUSING MANAGEMENT:
1 To be aware of the rights of the Service Users to a quality service and a safe, secure environment.
2 To ensure the security of the building and the safety of both Service Users and staff by verifying the identity of visitors and following any required security and safety measures.
3 Deal with obvious risks immediately (e.g. spillages, blocked fire exits) and report any defects to the building (both internal and external) or to equipment or resources used, to an appropriate person so that corrective action may be taken at the earliest opportunity.

3 To participate in personalised daily recording of each Service Users files.
4 To complete accident and incident forms as required.
HEALTH & SAFETY:
1 Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act. and all other health and safety
policies, procedures and requirements of Father Hudson’s Care.
TRAINING:
1 To attend and undertake training as required. Core training such as Manual
Handling; Health & Safety; Fire Evacuation Procedures; Food Hygiene;
Emergency First Aid, being mandatory. Other training as agreed with the
Manager.
2 To undertake NVQ training as agreed by the manager or other appropriate
person.
3 To contribute to the training and development of new starters and others as and
when required.
